Performance by Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom at Whitechapel Gallery festival Nocturnal Creatures
20 July 2019, 6 - 11pm
As part of Nocturnal Creatures, Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom was invited to present a live sound performance - it consisted of a live improvisation between Sunun, Matthew Gordon, and myself.
Organised by the Whitechapel Gallery, Nocturnal Creatures festival was hosted by local businesses and east-end spaces. This event included a diverse programme of installations and performances.
‘Appau Jnr Boakye-Yiadom transforms the grand atrium of the White Chapel Building with a sonic and sculptural installation of images of African-American Jazz dancer Clarence ‘Scoby’ Stroman performing the dance move ‘taking flight’.
Integrated with the display is an improvised live musical composition created by performers using electronic devices and instruments’*
